Also known as Kishu Ken, are medium sized purebred from Japan. They are listed among northern breeds. They grow up to a height of 22 inches and weigh in between 30-50 pounds. They have a sturdy bone structure. Their coat is short, straight and thick, found in varied colors of white, brindle, red and black. Their eyes and protruding cheeks give them an adorable look. They have an uncanny resemblance with Shiba Inu, Akita Inu, and Ainu Dog. They make good companion dogs, as they are devoted and faithful to its family. They are obstinate and independent breeds, who need constant training and exercise to keep their energies and enthusiasm at bay. They get along well with other pets and specially cordial with cats.
