California Quail are also known as Callipepla californica, California valley quail, and valley quail. They are small sized birds native to California. They weigh up to 160 g and grow 9.8 inches in size. Their diet comprises of seeds and insects, having a lifespan of 1 to 4 years. These birds have a curving crest or plume, made of six feathers, that droops forward: black in males and brown in females; the flanks are brown with white streaks. Males have a dark brown cap and a black face with a brown back, a grey-blue chest, and a light brown belly.
