Norwegian Elkhound medium sized dog breeds originating from Norway. They are used as hound and northern breeds. They grow to 20-21 inches in height and weigh in between 55-60 pounds. They are moderately boned structure and belong to Spitz type breed. Their gait is effortless and smooth. Its coat is thick, dense and medium sized, giving them protection against cold weather. Their large round eyes give an expression of alertness and curiosity. It is brave, bold and independent. They are easy to train and quick learners. They are protective, peculiar to their hound personality. They need constant exercise, otherwise, they tend to grow boisterous and destructive. They are protective and affectionate towards children and other pets. They are wary and suspicious of strangers.
