Basic Dog Training Tips For Beginners

 

You have brought to your house a new pet Dog. A loving companion and a loyal friend. He loves you and splurges you with attention. Awaiting for your arrival and jumps up and down looking at you, showing its happiness. You treat it with toys and food. Takes it on long leisure walk and you both together are house on fire.

But is this enough for your pooch? In order to become a part of totally new environment, it becomes necessary for your dog to be well trained and communicating. This is not possible unless its endowed with professional training and exercise.

If you are a beginner, you will be totally alien with the basics necessary for your pooch. where to start from and how to train must be few questions running in back of your mind, leaving you more confused and stress.

 

1.Poop time training.

Your poop is all new to the environment and spends most of its time indoors. It is not well versed with the basic manners of when and where to relieve itself. This is the most major and important basic that beginners needs to teach their pooch.

Training for this is supposed to start when your pup is 2 -  3 months old. As with age it would become difficult training your pup, as it won’t have much bowel and bladder control.

  • Start with places comfortable for your pup. It can be its crate, or an open area or a single room.
  • As your pup progresses you can expand the area for it to roam.

 

Here are certain guidelines to follow for training your pup.

  1. Do not feed your pup regularly when training it for relieving itself. Do not feed it with snacks in between the meals. This can disrupt its usual process and create trouble in training.
  2. If it feels like relieving itself,  do not restrain it. Make it acquainted with outside surrounding. Go on a stroll every morning and then in usual intervals of 30 to 60 minutes, also after nap and mealtime, it relieve itself.
  3. Take your dog to the same spot every day,, to get it well accustomed with the scent and comfortable to carry on its business.
  4. When out with your dog during a potty break, do not just turn it off the yard, unless it has not completed its business or sure it doesn’t want to.
  5. When your dog starts to follow the norms and doesn’t mess around with its business, praise it well. By treating it with its favorite food or a leisure walk.

 

2.Obedience training.

This stage of training is of necessity. Training your dog the right way can earn it applause and having a disobedient dog will cause more problems. In minimum training your dog with basic commands is of utmost importance.

These are the five golden words for your dog.

  • Sit: - Whenever your dog tends to get aggressive or excited on seeing something intriguing, this command will help to calm it down.
  • Down: - If your dog gets even more aggressive and is out of control and is jumping over you,  using this command will help bring your dog to bay.
  • Leave it: - Your dog has set its eyes on some delicious food and it is unstoppable, plunging to grab it and you as a beginner is unaware how to handle. Don’t worry, training your dog with this basic command will let it leave its grasp of the food.
  • Come: - You forgot t lock your door, lost grasp from your dog’s legs and it has ran away into the streets, making you impatient with worry. Just say “Come” and your dog will return back to you safe.
  • Stay: - This helps to keep your dog calm and composed in one place, while you go about getting your shopping or work done without worries.
  • Heel: - This command will let your dog be beside you as you walk, without the worry of getting it run away.

 

Using Positive Reinforcement as a method to train your dog is much recommended by experts. Rewarding it regularly with treats, on it showing positive developments and learning will make it learn sooner and make the training process less strenuous.

 

3.Reinforcement

Keep reinforcing your dog with rewards and treats to make the training process fun and enjoyable for you as well as the pooch.

An obedient and well-behaved dog is loved by everyone. This guarantees peace in your household.
