Your are expecting guests at your place and your dog is all too oblivion to their arrival. There they ring the bell and your dog gets all excited seeing them and pounce on your guests. You are all left sorry faced. Not knowing what to do. To handle your guests or lock your dog.
Teaching your dog basic commands to keep it at bay and obedient while your guests visit is all important to have a jolly time with your guest while having your dog around.
1.“Sit” command.
Your dog can turn aggressive and in excitement may pounce on your guests, scaring the hell out of them. Dogs have the tendency to bark whenever it meets a new person. This can totally spoil the mood of party.
When your dog pronounces such a behavior leash the dog before the guests arrival , in order to have the situation at bay when they enter the house.
Teach your dog the basic command of “Sit”, which will let it calm itself. This will help to take care during inappropriate situations put by your dog like biting, chewing or even barking. It is advisable to repeat this process till your dog gets accustomed to it and understands it well. He understands that sit means “ Sit & calm down”.
2.Jumping
Training your dog with basic manners during guest visits will save you from cutting a sorry state in front of your guest. Dogs have the habit of jumping when they meet people they are fond of. They tend to get pretty excited for your attention and this may end up pampering them making this a bad habit. Many owners commit the mistake of rewarding them, thereby encouraging them to do more for grabbing your attention.
This behavior may not go down well with your guests and they may find it offensive. At this time training your dog with “off” command will let to bring all its paws on the ground and calm it down.
3.Relieving Time.
This can be a major problem which dog owners face especially when visiting somebody else’s place. Your dog may not be habituated with the basics when it comes to relieving itself at somebody else’s place. Though it may very well understand it is not right to relieve itself inside the house, it may be oblivion of the same being applicable when in the house of family and friends.
Use basic command of “go potty”, or “go outside” by letting it outside the house after drinks or food, in order to let it relieve itself without mess.
It is recommended by experts, to train your dog these basic commands in the initial stages itself, when bought home. This will surely let your dog own “ most disciplined and obedient dog” tag.
