If your pooch is adopted from an already dog breeder it suggests emotional stability to a considerable extent.

1. After getting your dog vaccinated against illness and preventing it from any further illness, another aspect that needs to be taken care of the training and behavior of your dog. German Shepherds as known are aggressive breeds and need proper training to sooth them off and make them calm. A little provocation is enough to invite their wrath if not given proper training.

As German Shepherds are also known to be protective and act as excellent guard dogs, often they are repulsive to strangers and restrain from getting close to strangers. This can leave you in an embarrassing state if you don’t teach your pooch basic training language. Feeding them more would result them contracting various illness and turn obese. It is important to feed these shepherd species with protein rich diet comprising of poultry, fish or whole meat. At the same time it also requires sufficient amount of carbohydrates, grains and vegetables. Care needs to be taken to choose their food carefully as your shepherd buddy may be allergic to certain food products like corn which is not easily digestible and cheese to name a few.

In order to prevent your dog from gaining unwanted weight, it is important to indulge it in regular exercise like morning walks and run.

2. Unlike humans dogs are covered with fur which renders them protection against winter, helping to keep them warm. Tropical climate is often not suitable for these furry dogs as it may make them fall prey to heat strokes and turn them cranky. German Shepherds are known for their long hairy fur. In order to help them cope to heat and humidity, provide your dog with enough drinking water to let them cool down their self.

If you are on a morning walk with your dog make sure to carry enough water to keep them hydrated.

5.Grooming

German shepherd needs proper grooming from time to time. A bath once in a month and taking them to a parlor to groom their fur in order to save them from tick attacks can prove beneficial.

6.Regular Vet Visits.

The most important of all, is to get your pet checked by a vet regularly. German Shepherd like other dogs may be prone to ear infections and getting it checked regularly is important. Getting them vaccinated from time to time against various illness.

German shepherds are considered to be most intelligent and loyal dogs which are the most sought in police services and army.
