Do Cats Dream?

So far we have known that similar to humans, dogs do dream when asleep. We all have known how just like humans, animals are also pulled into dreamland when asleep. It is still a topic of study, what do these animals dream about in actual. A Recent study has thrown light on the fact that even cats do dream.

Have you ever seen your cat twitching, scratching or moving its paw when asleep?  And do you find this behavior very strange? This behavior is no strange. There is nothing to worry about. It does mean your cat is lost in some dreamland and having a gala time in its dream world.

It is said in while dreaming, one can’t carry out with the usual processes of the body. Still, it remains one of the essential function of the body. The body requires sufficient amount of sleep to keep it working. Cats are known to sleep for 21 hours a day. Still, while people are trying to decipher what does a cat dream while asleep, it has been cleared that cats do dream while asleep.

As known, sleep is of two types – rapid eye movement (REM) sleep and non-rapid eye movement (non-REM). During rapid eye movement sleep, the eyes even while closed can be seen moving. While onlookers may think the person to be awake, it is usually the opposite and the creature or the person is in deep slumber, a state where it is difficult to wake the creature. Dreams are seen in this stage of sleep.

Humans usually dream about thinks that they have noticed throughout the day. The brain has got a peculiar knack of capturing even the minutest of things it sees throughout the day. All these things are recorded and made into a story while asleep. The brain can be called the best story writer as it makes excellent stories from horror to comedy, etc.

Young animals are known to spend more time dreaming as compared to the old ones. This can be linked to decreasing brain activities. It is still to be decoded what exactly does your cat dream while asleep. Is it dreaming about chasing its favorite food the rat or having a dream sleep while sleeping? Dreaming can be considered as an animal’s attempt to understand the information that is processed in the brain.

One can easily understand or try to decipher what a cat must be dreaming while asleep. Maybe if you find your cat moving its paw rapidly, it may be chasing a rat in its dream and it is better not to wake it up from its dream or else it may lose its feast.
